Work History - Photography

 

1994 to present, freelance photographer, photo instructor and appraiser. Various clients include Canadian Geographic Magazine, Natural Resources Canada, CIDA, Globe and Mail, City of Ottawa, Ottawa Art Gallery. Assignment experience highlighted in National Gallery of Canada web site, Drawing with Light.

 

1984 to 1994 Contract photographer and photo editor for CIDA, document programs and life in 30 countries. Curate Rights and Realities, international photo exhibition dealing with women’s issues. Opened in Beijing, China and Ottawa. Invited to curate first contemporary photography exhibition at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, The Landscape: Eight Canadian Photographers . Contracted Canadian photographers for CIDA photo assignments, purchased stock for productions.

 

1981 to 1983 Curator and photo editor for NFB Still Photography Division and Photo Centre. Produced exhibitions, including Pat Morrow:Everest 82, Transitions :The Landscape, Document and A  Voiceless Song: John Paskievich. Contracted Canadian photographers for various government assignments, including Yosuf Karsh’s last official portrait of the Queen.

Purchased fine art and stock photographs from Canadian photographers for the NFB., including Edward Burtynsky.
